Bleckley County opened the state baseball playoffs with a 2-1 win over Heard County on Friday at home.

The Royals were limited to three hits, but made them count. J. Johnson led the way, going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Bleckley also scored on a sacrifice fly by L. Sapp.

On the mound, W. Boatright tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out four to earn the win.

Heard County’s lone run came on a solo homer by B. Cofield in the third inning.

Bleckley County now takes a 1-0 lead in the playoff series and will look to close it out in Game 2.
