The Bleckley County Royals came up just short Tuesday night, falling 5-4 in a tough extra-inning battle against the Academy for Classical Education on the road.
Bleckley showed fight early, building a 4-3 lead through the first four innings. The Royals plated runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, using timely hitting and patience at the plate to stay in control.
W. Boatright led the way offensively, scoring twice and adding a hit, while B. Fleming and G. Cole each collected two hits. The Royals also drew nine walks, creating multiple scoring opportunities throughout the game.
On the mound, Boatright delivered a strong start, striking out seven over 6.1 innings while allowing just three earned runs.
After ACE tied the game in the fifth inning, both teams settled into a defensive battle. Bleckley had chances late but stranded runners, finishing the night with 13 left on base.
The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the ninth, when ACE pushed across the winning run to secure the 5-4 victory.
Despite the loss, the Royals showed resilience in a tightly contested game, keeping pressure on ACE throughout and forcing the contest into extra innings.
