The City of Cochran is encouraging residents to keep their properties clean and well-maintained, with a reminder about local ordinances on grass, weeds, and vegetation.
According to Code Enforcement Officer Danny Smith, grass or weeds over 12 inches tall are not permitted on developed properties. The same applies within 40 feet of any structure, as well as on undeveloped lots within 10 feet of a developed property.
Keeping grass and weeds trimmed helps residents stay in compliance and avoid potential issues. The city may issue compliance notices when needed, and continued violations could lead to fines or court action.
Smith said the goal is not enforcement, but partnership.
“I’d much rather stop by just to say hello than to address a violation,” he said.
Residents are encouraged to do their part in helping keep Cochran clean, safe, and beautiful.
