This lady seems to be thinking about what other dessert or candy she might fix. If I were there, I’d already have a knife, saucer, and fork ready for a chunk of that strawberry cake.

My mom used to make a delicious strawberry cake! That thought reminds me of Sundays after church when we would gather at her house for a feast that occasionally included her strawberry cake.

What I wouldn’t give for a slice with a cold glass of milk or a nice cup of coffee! You see, just like this lady and my mom, I, too, have a sweet tooth! As much as I crave the sweet taste of this cake, there is something is even sweeter and more satisfying.

The Psalmist said, “How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth” (Ps. 119:103)! The cake momentarily satisfies a sweet craving, but the sweetness of God’s Word satisfies the soul deeply and eternally.

As Charles Spurgeon once said, “Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years.”

The richness of His Word only grows sweeter the more we taste it. Why not sit down with a cup of coffee and enjoy the sweetness of His Word today?
